The Schloss Nymphenburg
We didn't really have enough to to go inside the Schloss Nymphenburg when we came to Munich, although I really wish we had. Instead, we decided to have a stroll around the lovely Palace Grounds and enjoy their autumn colours. There is a metro station nearby and the grounds have a very attractive conservatory, which now operates as a cafe. We warmed up inside here and enjoyed a tasty slice of chocolate cake.

Go to the Marienplatz - at midday...
This is what all the tourists come to see in Munich - the Glockenspiel clockwork characters moving around when the clock chimes. This is only at 11:00 and 12:00, and then again at 17:00 in the summer. For the best views, go up the St. Peter Church, or do what we did, have a coffee and sit at a table at the Cafe Glockenspiel, which is right across from the Glockenspiel, on the fifth floor.

New Town Hall in Munich
The Neues Rathaus is the New Town Hall in Munich and I loved the sheer Gothic beauty of the building. This really does give the Marienplatz square a feeling of grandeur and it dates from 1867. Nice hours chimes as well, and plenty of places close by to grab a beer and watch the animated clock.
